IT'S THE ACTION THAT COUNTS

All of us want to have a good life.We have dreams and we want to do our best for our lives. We are inspired by good things - we want to be good people and we only want to have good things in our lives. In short, all of us always mean well - we have good intentions and good expectations. The problem is: do we always do good things? The definite answer is: not necessarily. Despite our good intentions, we don't always do good things and there are several reasons for that.

One is that human make mistakes and it is part of human nature. Sometimes, we do bad things inadvertently. Even if it is inadvertent, does it mean that it is less bad? Of course, we cannot eliminate mistakes in entirety and we can always learn from our mistakes. Human grows through learning and this is what separate human from other creatures. The question is: can we allow ourselves to always make mistakes and do bad things? Learning and doing bad things over and over again are two different things. When we make a mistake, we don't want to repeat it and that's how we learn. We don't make mistakes deliberately only for the sake of making mistakes, especially when we have the option. We'd rather not make the mistake,if it is ever possible, because there are times when people have to pay dearly for the mistakes they didn't mean to make. For instance: in the event of accidents. It means that we'd better not make mistakes so that we don't have to unnecessarily pay for the consequences. It means that we'd be better watch what we do so as not to do bad things.

Two, not all of us have the integrity of aligning our intentions with our actions. There is a huge difference between wanting and having, as much as saying and doing. Do we always have what we want? Do we always do what we say? Here, we are talking about integrity. When we want something but we don't have it yet, is it possible that we haven't really taken the actions necessary to achieve what we want? When we don't do what we say, is it possible that we like to say it more than we like to do it. In both cases, we see that actions are missing. Not all of us have the integrity to always keep their words.

From the aforementioned examples, we see that we don't always do good things. But we cannot be certain if we can get away with it. Bad deeds - whether deliberate or pure mistakes - carry with them some consequences, which can be substantial if not fatal. We can call it Karma or something else, but we reap what we sow. It means that we really have to measure our actions - what we actually do, deliberately or by mistake, as opposed to what we think we should do. Chaos Theory says that even though things seem to happen in random, there is some sort of order in which there is always a cause and effect taking place. In other words, even our slightest act will leave an impact much greater than what we are aware of. One act creates an impact and the impact remains the same despite the underlying background. What is done is done and it is going to leave an imprint.

The lesson: make sure that we know what we do and that we only take the actions that are in line with our intentions. Knowing is not the same as taking it into actions. For example: people know they are not supposed to litter, but they do throw garbage once in a while if not often.People know they are not supposed to hurt other - but we cannot deny that we might have hurt someone's feelings, if not on purpose. Therefore, we have to make sure that we only do good things so that we can minimize the risk of doing things that might cause even the slightest damage, even when we are not aware of it. When we are aiming at our goals in life, make sure that we take the actions instead of dreaming about it. What we have now reflect our actions - when we haven't reached our goals yet, it means we haven't taken enough actions. What will be the best way to keep doing good things and keep taking actions? Develop habits. When we have good habits, we will produce the good results even when we are not aware of it.
